She earned a Medical Billing and Coding certification through Houston Community College — a step that offered her stability, a manageable schedule, and the potential for remote work.

    But she didn’t stop there. Monica added a Community Health Worker certification from the University of Houston, expanding her skills and giving her access to higher-paying jobs. After years of persistence, she earned the prestigious Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential — a requirement for the secure, union-protected remote position she now holds. She’s also working toward an Oncology Data Specialist credential for even greater earning potential.
