Honoring our deep Catholic roots and celebrating the women religious who founded our organization is important to us. It’s always nice when we can collaborate with other like-minded organizations. Spalding University, Nativity Academy, and Family Scholar House are aligned in our concern and care for low-income families. Together, we can provide the education necessary for lifelong self-sufficiency.

Spalding University’s mission, rooted in its Catholic identity and the legacy of Mother Catherine Spalding is to serve others, promote peace and justice, and meet the needs of theCt times through quality education.
The mission of Family Scholar House is to end the cycle of poverty and transform communities by empowering families and youth to succeed in education and achieve life-long self-sufficiency. ... See MoreSee Less

Today, let’s throw it back a bit to our Graduation Celebration and Martha Kamara, who’ll earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville next month — proof of what’s possible with determination and the right support.

At the time, she never imagined she’d qualify. “It was like a dream come true,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to go back for this degree because I knew it would change my life.”
Family Scholar House offered Martha not only a place to live, but a full circle of support—from food and furniture to academic coaching and emotional encouragement. “If I wanted to talk to somebody, there was always someone available,” she says.
Martha is now interviewing and looking forward to launching a career in nursing—ideally in labor and delivery or pediatrics. “There’s a reason I went into nursing,” she says. “I don’t want that dream to fade.”
Her advice to others considering the program? “Follow the steps. Everything worked out just great for me. I’m really grateful—I don’t even know how to express that.” ... See MoreSee Less
