The Power of Partnership
Hailey Van Lith understands the importance of our two-generation approach by investing in our scholars of all ages. Last July, the star women’s basketball guard surprised 20 Family Scholar House kids with a day of shopping at JCPenney’s. The kids were able to try on uniforms, socks, shoes and other items to prepare for returning to the classroom.
Last month, Van Lith took her support to another level by donating over $30,000, to provide tablets for our children’s technology program and air printers for our media labs. In partnership with Adidas, our families received shoes, autographed basketballs and adidas clothing. This investment allows our youngest scholars to engage with educational programming through technology and our adult students to have easy access to printing.
At the event Hailey’s entire family joined in on the fun handing out Adidas basketball gear. The line was long but Hailey took time to connect with each family and sign a basketball for every child in attendance. Hailey mentioned in interviews Family Scholar House’s direct impact on the community is like nothing she’d ever seen before. The admiration is mutual. We are grateful to have Hailey as part of our extended FSH family and we will be cheering her on as she takes the court this March.
