Encouragement
“I have always been a giver. I love to help anywhere I can. I was looking for an organization to give a hand up, not a hand out and I knew Family Scholar House is where I wanted to volunteer.”
Marguerite Davis started volunteering with us almost 15 years ago when she met our President and CEO Cathe Dykstra through their church.
“I met Marguerite through St. Thomas Episcopal Church when my husband was assigned as a Deacon there. From our first interaction, I knew she was a spitfire (a good thing). Marguerite says what’s on her mind and always has the most positive, uplifting view of the world. It was my idea for her to write encouragement notes for our participants. From her optimistic perspective, I knew they would be well received and could brighten a scholar’s day, especially in tough times. Marguerite is so much more than a volunteer; she is family.”
At Family Scholar House there is a place for volunteers of all ages to get involved. Marguerite, as a former middle school English and Social Studies teacher, has so much knowledge to share with the many scholars we serve. Her volunteerism helps keep a smile on our hard-working participant’s faces when they need it most. We are so grateful to have someone like Marguerite in our big and growing family. Thank you Marguerite for empowering our families for more than 15 years! Your kindness and generosity has impacted so many lives.
