“I have always been a giver. I love to help anywhere I can. I was looking for an organization to give a hand up, not a hand out and I knew Family Scholar House is where I wanted to volunteer.”
Quitting school wasn’t an option for me. I was determined to finish my education and prove I would not be a statistic. When I found out I was pregnant I was confused and worried; how would I juggle school, work, and being a parent?
Family Scholar House single-handedly gave me all the tools I needed for success. Everything from tutoring, networking opportunities, financial workshops, and job fairs. I am beyond grateful for the Family Scholar House Program because I was able to continue my education after High School, while also being able to be the best mom possible.
I am so passionate about what I do because the work we do at FSH is changing many people's lives and the entire community.
They provided multiple opportunities for workshops that helped me identify my worth and the things I can accomplish. Being a single mother is not easy. At first, I thought the journey would be extremely difficult. Juggling school, caring for a newborn, and working is a lot to manage but Family Scholar House has made the transition much less stressful. Now, I believe the possibilities are endless.
My name is Megan Eldridge, I grew up in the Kentuckiana area and landed back here after 4 years in Indianapolis for college. I graduated with a degree in Communication and Organizational Leadership from Butler University in 2017. I am passionate about the meaningful work behind seeing individuals, families, and communities thrive. When I saw this opportunity with Family Scholar House to work on a new program focused on service, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. I am thrilled to be joining Family Scholar House as the KY HealthCorps Program Director.
