The Year of Change

Published on March 31, 2021

This month marks one year of a “new normal” for our world. We learned to adapt to masks, social distancing and zoom meetings for school, work and family. We look around at our community with pride as they have worked hard to protect one another and move toward a healthier, safer environment. Making a Change, Making a Difference – The Perspective of Three FSH Interns

Published on March 7, 2021

Every year, Family Scholar House has the privilege of hosting students for internships, practicums and service learning opportunities. Our staff enjoys witnessing the transformations that take place from August to May as our interns deepen their knowledge of service. We are honored to be a small part of their journey as they grow as students and prepare to enter the workforce to make a difference in the world. My FSH Band

Published on January 29, 2021

It is a place where I came and reset my thoughts, feelings, and goals. It has been a place of healing and  growth for not only me, but also my child, and the other families that share this space with us. To me, Family Scholar House is a place of unity where everyone can come together as mothers, children, students, and working single parents.

As we enter 2021, we are urged to have strength and courage in the face of uncertainty. For most of us that can feel understandably overwhelming and scary. For Kacie, one of our 2020 graduates, she faces this year with hope, gratitude and pride, despite a background of hardships, challenges and loss.

Louieconnect.com Provides a Helping Hand

Published on December 29, 2020

We have all had those moments where we need help and are unsure where to turn. Often our pride, or fear for our safety, keeps us from asking for the assistance we need. When individuals are in need, we want to make sure a helping hand is free, easily accessible, up-to-date and safe. From that desire, Louieconnect.com was created by Family Scholar House in collaboration with Metro United Way’s 2-1-1 program. It is our community’s safety net web-based app.
