Family Scholar House is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible.
To me, the Family Scholar House has been a reset button. It is a place where I came and reset my thoughts, feelings, and goals. It has been a place of healing and growth for not only me, but also my child, and the other families that share this space with us. To me, Family Scholar House is a place of unity where everyone can come together as mothers, children, students, and working single parents. We share our stories in support of one another, to show each other that we are all worthy, and that a reset is okay.
As we enter 2021, we are urged to have strength and courage in the face of uncertainty. For most of us that can feel understandably overwhelming and scary. For Kacie, one of our 2020 graduates, she faces this year with hope, gratitude and pride, despite a background of hardships, challenges and loss.
We have all had those moments where we need help and are unsure where to turn. Often our pride, or fear for our safety, keeps us from asking for the assistance we need. When individuals are in need, we want to make sure a helping hand is free, easily accessible, up-to-date and safe. From that desire, Louieconnect.com was created by Family Scholar House in collaboration with Metro United Way’s 2-1-1 program. It is our community’s safety net web-based app.
November is a time for giving thanks. We want to take the time to say “thank you” to our incredibly supportive community here in Louisville. On November 3, we were so fortunate to have a volunteer group from Brown-Forman spend the day with us at our Stoddard Johnston Scholar House campus.
